History of Meyer Brothers Grain

Meyer Brothers Grain, Inc. has been your neighbor since 1985, owned and operated by brothers Tom Meyer and John Meyer. Tom and John grew up (along with another brother and a sister) right on-site at the farm in Elk Mound, originally raising crops and livestock. Expansion of the grain drying and storage facility was gradual through the 80s and 90s, but recent investments in the technology and infrastructure of both the Elk Mound and Pleasant Valley facilities have brought state-of-the-art drying capabilities and enormous storage capacity.

The hauling component of the business was added in 1990 and similarly has steadily grown to a full fleet of 25 trucks and trailers including hopper-bottoms and flatbeds. Each year the Meyer brothers re-invest in the property to continue building value and efficiency for their customers, making it the leading grain elevator in Western Wisconsin.

The Elk Mound Pond & Water Fowl Project

Over the course of 2012/13, adjacent to the facility in Elk Mound, Tom and John worked along with the Department of Natural Resources to take unused marshy land and develop a series of ponds and natural habitat for animals including ducks, geese, turtles, and other critters. A variety of native grasses and vegetation grow around nine water bodies of various size and on two islands, all playing host to families of ducks and canadian geese at various times of the year.
